Falling Leaves © By Jessica R. Roth
walking the straight path the air crisp and fresh with trees of red, gold, and brown I feel beautiful just being here a leaf will occasionally fall and if I am lucky, I’ll catch it close my eyes and brush it against my red cheek the winds may send a gust and the leaf will go free from my fingers I’ll turn to watch it sail, only in envy through the air with other leaves in circles as they dance teasing the other leaves because they are attached and cannot dance looking at the leaves attached to their trees I’ll understand them wanting to be free from the world that protects me wanting to dance and sail through the air walking the straight path the air crisp and fresh with trees of red, gold, and brown I feel so beautiful just standing there a leaf falls, and I try to catch it the leaf falls short of my stretched hand and I watch it fall to the ground with the other leaves unfortunate enough to not have someone to catch them and save them from the cold ground I look up at the other leaves still attached to their trees I understand them happy to have something to hold on to happy to have somewhere to belong I continue down the straight path and like a leaf, I silently wonder if I do fall, will I have someone to catch me?

A Golden Chain
Friendship is a Golden Chain, The links are friends so dear, And like a rare and precious jewel It's treasured more each year...
It's clasped together firmly With a love that's deep and true, And it's rich with happy memories and fond recollections, too...
Time can't destroy its beauty For, as long as memory lives, Years can't erase the pleasure That the joy of friendship gives...
For friendship is a priceless gift That can't be bought or sold, But to have an understanding friend Is worth far more than gold...
And the Golden Chain of Friendship Is a strong and blessed tie Binding kindred hearts together As the years go passing by.

Tall Pine
by David Hoffmann
Upon her crystal shores... waves of shimmering light. Part of a larger symphony near water's edge. Under tall pine a leaf gently spirals to the ground. A small note... unheard by most. A piece of that song.
A myriad of light from so far away... but really not so far. A glimmer highlights the base of tall pine. Blending with the fallen leaf's song. A neighbor's melody of change.
A different forest. A new time. Within the sounds... a symphony. Within the rhythm... a remembrance. A note heard by those who choose to listen.
Touched by a myriad of lights. Reflecting upon a small leaf. Sounds blending under tall pine. Dancing around a tree... upon crystal shores.

For you Delphine with your first snow.....
SNOW gently falling, floating down. over you and me standing here standing there the snow is falling. white flakes come down from heaven above coming down like angels the snow is falling. all the fun times we've had outside, building forts having snow-ball fights, while the snow is falling. softly it comes down like a white moist blanket, gently whispering ' go inside or get a cold' While the snow is falling.

Wishing everyone a wonderful and healthy Thanksgiving Day. Thank you to all my dear friends..
T’was the night of Thanksgiving, But I just couldn’t sleep. I tried counting backwards, I tried counting sheep. The leftovers beckoned, The dark meat and white. But I fought the temptation, With all of my might. Tossing and turning, with anticipation. The thought of a snack became infatuation. So I raced to the kitchen, Flung open the door, And gazed at the fridge, Full of goodies galore. I gobbled up turkey, And buttered potatoes, Pickles and carrots, Beans and tomatoes. I felt myself swelling, So plump and so round. ‘til all of a sudden, I rose off the ground. I crashed through the ceiling, Floating into the sky, With a mouthful of pudding, And a handful of pie. But I managed to yell As I soared past the trees Happy eating to all, Pass the cranberries, please!! May your stuffing be tasty May your turkey be plump. May your potatoes and gravy Have nary a lump. May your yams be delicious, May your pies take the prize And May your Thanksgiving dinner Stay off of your thighs! by Lauren

"A full moon shines over the morning frost; the lanes are full of late-fallen leaves; walking across the mulch is almost as tricky as treading over ice.
In town the carol-singers are in crowding the shopping-mall, while a group of muffled musicians play by the outside market.
This year but two robins on the early Christmas cards; the squirrel still runs along the fence skirting our newly-erected shed."

OH NO! TO SNOW © By Jody Broyles
I NEVER THOUGHT I'D SAY 'OH NO!' TO SNOW
As a child I'd shout with glee as the whiteness shrouded trees, but the shoveling was my father's lot, not mine. Down the hills I'd sled with joy, Yes, the snow was just my toy, and if school was closed then that'd suit me fine.
I could never understand Father's frown at the white land, for me it was the biggest treat by far, No matter how much of the stuff, I'd never get enough, but my father's job was digging out the car.
Now when snow begins to fall there's a voice inside that calls, Come on and build a snowman out of me. But the adult in me swears, 'I must shovel off the stairs. and my aching back is tired, don't you see?
Oh, I never thought I'd say Oh No!' to snow But, yes, it's true, I'd rather stay in bed. And it keeps going through my mind growing up might be defined as the time when shovel must replace the sled.

Letter From Santa © By Belinda L. Van Norman
Hello boys and girls, Santa Claus here, Writing a letter to you on the best time of year.
My elves are real busy making lots of cool toys, which I will only deliver to good girls and boys.
If you want me to bring these great gifts to you, there are a few simple things I need you to do.
Mind your parents and do what they tell you to do. Be sweet to your friends; share your toys with them too.
Clean up your toys, put them all away, to make room for new ones you'll receive Christmas day.
I'll be watching till the night I come to your house. You will not hear me for I am quiet as a mouse.
Try to sleep through the night until Christmas day. Then you can see what I brought in my sleigh.
I hope you'll be good, I hope that you'll try, so until Christmas Eve, I must say good-bye.
Sincerely, Santa Claus
P.S. Please leave my reindeer some carrots, milk and cookies for me And I will place lots of goodies under you tree.

To spend forever © By Kellie Harris
I wake up Christmas morning, what do I see, I see lots of candy and gifts, laying under the tree,
I wake up Christmas morning what do I hear, I hear the joys and laughter of my family, filling my ear
I wake up Christmas morning, what do I touch, I touch the gifts form those peoples hands, that I love so much
I wake up Christmas morning, what’s the first thing I do, I get down on my knees, bow my head, and pray to guy for blessing me with all of you

Getting Our Hearts Ready for Christmas Each time we say a tender word, some heart's a little lighter, Each time we do a kindly deed, love shines a little brighter, And if we could remember this as every new day starts, We'd keep the Christmas spirit all year long within our hearts.

What I Want For Christmas © By Steven Loy D. Loy
All I want for Christmas it's not cheap It is very expensive after all It can't be found in a store or even a mall it is something that comes from inside all of us all it can’t be wrapped in a box or tied in a bow it is something that we all can show I know every year I say the same thing but Santa can’t bring me what I need though money is not needed but it is expensive indeed the joy, happiness, and love is all that I need every day to me feels like Christmas because we hold each other so dear this is also something we show all year I have only one wish and that is to spend time with the ones who love me

Twas the Night Before Christmas...Mom Style © By Catherine Cornell
'Twas the Night Before Christmas' Mom Style!
Twas the night before Christmas, when all through the abode, Only one creature was stirring, she was cleaning the commode. The children were sleeping, all snug in their beds, While visions of X-box 360 and IPODS flipped through their heads.
Dad was snoring in front of the family TV With a half-constructed bike propped up on his knee. So only Mom heard the reindeer hooves clatter, Which made her sigh, 'Now what's the matter?'
With toilet brush still clutched in her hand, She descended the stairs and saw an old man All covered with soot, which fell with a shrug' 'Oh great,' muttered Mom, 'now I have to clean up the rug.'
'Ho! Ho! Ho!' cried Santa, 'I'm glad you're awake--- My gift to you was especially difficult to make.' 'Thanks Santa, but all I want is time alone.' 'Exactly!' he chuckled, 'so I've made you a clone.'
'A clone?' she muttered. 'What good is that?' Now run along Santa, I've no time to chat.' Then out walked the clone, the dear mother's twin, Same hair and same eyes, the same double chin.
'She'll cook and she'll dust, she'll mop every mess, You'll relax, take it easy, watch the Young and Restless.' 'Fantastic!' mom cheered, 'My dream has come true!' 'I'll shop and I'll read and I'll sleep the night through!'
From the room up above, the youngest did fret. 'Mommy come quickly----I'm scared and I'm wet!' The clone replied, 'I'm coming sweetheart.' 'WOW!' the mom smiled. 'She sure knows her part.'
The clone changed the small one and sung him a tune As she bundled him up in a blanket cocoon. 'You're the best mommy ever---I really love you!' The clone smiled and said, 'I love you too!'
The real mom frowned and said 'Santa , no deal! That's my baby's love that she's trying to steal.' Smiling wisely Santa said, 'To me it's so clear, Only one loving mother is needed right here.'
The mom kissed her child and tucked him in bed, 'Thank you so much, dear Santa, for clearing my head', Knowing time goes too fast ,and it won't be too long, That her children will no longer need her cradle nor song,
The clock on the mantle then began to chime; Santa whispered to the clone, 'It works every time.' And with the clone at his side, Santa said,' Goodnight Merry Christmas, dear mom, you will be all right!'

It's winter in Wisconsin, And the gentle breezes blow, Seventy miles an hour at twenty-five below. Oh, how I love Wisconsin, When the snow's up to your butt, You take a breath of winter, And your nose gets frozen shut. Yes, the weather here is wonderful, So I guess I'll hang around, I could never leave Wisconsin, 'Cause I'm frozen to the ground.

'Twas the month after Christmas, and all through the house... Nothing would fit me, not even a blouse. The cookies I'd nibbled, the eggnog I'd taste At the holiday parties had gone to my waist. When I got on the scales there arose such a number! When I walked to the store (less a walk than a lumber). I'd remember the marvelous meals I'd prepared; The gravies and sauces and beef nicely rare,
The wine and the rum balls, the bread and the cheese And the way I'd never said, "No thank you, please." As I dressed myself in my husband's old shirt And prepared once again to do battle with dirt.
I said to myself, as I only can "You can't spend a winter disguised as a man!" So...away with the last of the sour cream dip, Get rid of the fruit cake, every cracker and chip
Every last bit of food that I like must be banished 'Till all the additional ounces have vanished. I won't have a cookie--not even a lick. I'll want only to chew on a long celery stick.
I won't have hot biscuits, or corn bread, or pie, I'll munch on a carrot and quietly cry. I'm hungry, I'm lonesome, and life is a bore-- But isn't that what January is for?
Unable to giggle, no longer a riot. Happy New Year to all and to all a good diet.
Best wishes for the New Year!
