Thought we could start asking questions and sharing various ways of making screen shots, tilesets, and backgrounds using different software.
So far, I only use free software like Irfan View. I know Mamasue uses a very expensive graphic software to make her beautiful tiles and screen shots.
I also like how Oleta makes her screen shots with the beautiful background.
What other software do people use and how do they use it to make their beautiful tiles?
By the way, thank you to all who share. I enjoy looking at everyones.

Delphine,
How did you make your Glass Flowers, if you don't mind sharing. Did you download them with all those different colors or did you somehow manipulate one picture of the flower and change the colors each time?

I am trying to figure out more about photo shop. The free version that came with my pc. It isn't very user friendly. Like how to extract a picture from the background and change it's colors. Any one know about that? Sometimes I get frustrated about the little amount of manipulation I am able to do with a picture

Thank you Pinky.
I love to mess around with new software. I will try it out.
A question for anyone who knows:
When you find an image and a background that you like off the web, can you drop image onto that background using photo shop 6.0 (basic) ?

A question for anyone who knows:
When you find an image and a background that you like off the web, can you drop image onto that background using photo shop 6.0 (basic) ? I think it has to do with layers. Perhaps this site will help you out: library.georgetown.edu/dept/gelardin/guides/photoshop_basics/photoshopbasics1(new).htmPhoto Shop 6 Basic is far too expensive for me. It costs over $600. Paint Shop XI was $99 a few weeks ago. I had PSP X at the WinXP PC. Version XI is designed to work with Vista. The difference between update and new version was very little. So I purchased PSP XI. My version is in Dutch language. I like that. It has no Gif tool in. It seems one can purchase that separately. Not in Dutch though. Mamasu/Susanne uses Photo Impact. That was ca. $ 75 in December last year. Got a X-mas discount. Now it is $90. It included the Gif factory. This program is not hard in use. It is English version. I bet Mamasu has a German version. For that I prefer PSP. I did a few things with Photo Impact. I wished I had more time to play around with the graphic programs. I adore the GIF images Susanne creates. I use IrfanView for almost everything. I used it to darken the backgrounds of Oleta. I use it creating tilesets. I use the thumbnails for a good overview of the images 9 in a row and reduce them to the amount of 36. That is after I batched the lot from one folder to another to make them all JPG format. Crop the images if needed. Go to PSP to modify. Delete spots or change colours. That is not possible with IrfanView. Next I do batch with IrfanView to change brightness/contrast with -15/15, reduce the colour balance -2 and resize them to 80x96 pixels. I also make the collages with this program. I also use it for screen shots. I tried it with Print-Screen/SysRq button and CTRL-V it in MS-paint. It might be my imagination but I like the outcome of IrfanView better. PSP is cool to create images yourself. Like I created Pento5 and Magic PNG tilesets.

You can get access to the site, if you copy the lot and paste it in the address box of the Internet browser.
