I hope you do not keep the 500 challenging layouts in your favorite list. It slows down the game. It is better to create several my files containing ca. 50 layouts. You can zip the file and give it each different names. Or rename the my file to my1 etc. (for example). I don't have 500 yet, since I'm more focused on advancing through the ranks. At the moment I have maybe 275 in favorites. That actually slows the game down??? I had no idea there was actually a file called "my" until you brought this up. Managing 50-file sets strikes me as awkward. In practice, I'd rarely find the desire to swap them around. Another possibility is maintaining a spreadsheet of completed layouts instead, but the success percentage would be static in the spreadsheet, while real-time percentages would be subject to change. For my purposes, I might just call that good enough, though. Jim

It was but a suggestion. I am not much of a file swapper myself. I did save them all of Angelwings13 and Jooles in packages of 50 layouts to play if I get the time for it. Ah, there are always new layouts to play.
I have 83 layouts in the favourites list. I have been counting. Games runs fine. But that is on a new PC.
It also depends on the size of the layouts. It is more the size of the my file that counts. I think if it gets to big, it makes the game run slow. It can be bigger on a new PC. So it is difficult to tell how many layouts your list can hold. The original my has ca. 40 layouts.
I do not hold track of what I played. I go for the best time in Speed Mode (sometimes little ones under 200 tiles in Concentration Mode). Look at the best times. Look how many attempts it took me. Sometimes it stays in but once in a while I delete all layouts with the green V. Never look after them again.

Computer performance seems ok for me for maybe 200-250 layouts. I've noticed serious degradation if I go much beyond that. So instead of 500, I'll save the 100 most challenging layouts I've completed. Where do you save the layouts you create yourself? Jim

Where I keep my layouts?
They are on the server of BFG. Only the most recently made are in favourites.
I saved them all of Angelwings13 and Jooles in zip files containing 50 layouts.
Of my own I only save 50 octomino's. With the lot of my players I have made them loads. Hmm. It indeed is about time to back up the lot.

I have to say that this whole thread is Greek to me with talk of bumping and RLP. Never mind - I'm having a lot of fun playing MTE, and that's the whole object of the object of the game for me. I've played Gerda's games and enjoyed them although I am seldom able to finish them. I did complete one for 9,000 points tonight, though.

Hi, Nancy.. It sure was greek to me, too when I first started..
RLP is Rarified Lighting Pig the highest rank you can get in the game.
Alot of people like to go up ranks fast. So they play what is called speedies. They are little layouts of around 42 tiles and are stacked up. If you play then under concentration you get 3 times the points, it adds up fast.
Bumping is if a layout has only 2500 points and wasn't played over 10 times. You can find that info on the game on the right side, when you click you will see a black window come up in there are stats. Look for how many attempts by everyone never the bottom.
If you go back and read all the threads above you will see what we are talking about.
I sure hope this helped you out some..
Gerda's layouts are great very enjoyable and alot of fun, I always play Gerda's LO's. You did great beating one with 9000 points. We have a thread in here about some designers if you want to read about them.
Remember to always have fun and enjoy...

Thanks again, Angel. You've given me a lot of info here. I'll try the "bumping". I may have already done it without realizing as I have done quite a few games around 2,500 points and I do the newest games. I'll look and see if I can find some of your layouts. I've done some speedies. Terry2 told me about them. Just for a boost, you understand. I still do more difficult LO's. And I tried Concentration mode last night after I read about it here. Just one day of visiting this forum has changed my whole MJT experience. I will take your advice and read more of the threads here but not all in one day. I must get to work now...er, soon. We're having my son's 21st birthday party tomorrow and I am not ready. I wonder why? ;D Thanks again! Nancy

Your welcome Nancy. Like I said it all depends on how fast you want to go up the ranks. Some times you have to give yourself a break from speedies by playing different kind of layouts. I played speedies but I really don't enjoy them. I just played them to go up ranks. I like medium to hard layouts. I haven't made any layouts in a while. If you go looking I think you have to type in my name now. I do plan on going back to making layouts again. Yes, that becomes very addicting, too. LOLLL.. I hope your son has a nice 21th birthday and yes I understand if things don't get done because of MTE we all have been there, lol..

It does not matter what way you play game. As you say yourself, you enjoy it. That is most important. I am always happy, hearing players enjoy my layouts. Thanks for that. Karma for you beating a pretty hard one.

Hi Jim, I think yr thread is grt & iv been grinning abit while reading through it & thort id fill u in on 1 'speedies' player I'm a speedies player - omg i feel like im at an alcohol annonymous group or somthing!!! ;D But anyway - i like & enjoy speedies because thyr fast & im used to working fast I have 8 children (4/5 at home of my own & 4 r permanantly fostered) so thr is always something here to do & i don't get alot of time to myself - MTE is my way of doing something i enjoy as often as i can between anything & every1 else - so if i manage to push thru 50 layouts at the same time - to me its a personal achievment I also usually make speedy layouts, because thyr quick to make, but i have also hada dabble with making reasonable sized (in my view) layouts & have enjoyed playing the odd larger layout on the odd occasion but the larger 1s bore me too quickly if i attempt more than a few at a time - i have no idea why - they just do - maybe it comes down to a 'time' thing - i guess in everyday life i just don't mess around & i suppose im abit like that in MTE too So thr we have it - from 1 speedy MTE player to som1 who wonders why Hope this is a little insight for you & gives you a broader view of why i play speedies - as for any1 else - i have no idea but it'd be grt to hear from a few Anyway - You hava grt day/night, Take Care & Stay Safe & Enjoy!!!

Hey there,
I just recently discovered bumping. While many people are just trying to rack up the points on the way to RLP, I have another motive.
I have a macintosh computer, using mte v. 1.3. There is a bug in the mac version that Big Fish either refuses to acknowledge, or else can't be bothered to look into and fix. There are several badge resources that are missing, so that when the game looks for them to display (ie after completing a puzzle or even if you want to get info on a certain player) the game crashes. Very annoying to have to relaunch the game after every win, or even worse, if I forget and check my own status before playing and the crash happens before even starting one puzzle!
The good news is that even after a puzzle completion crash, mte remembers my score and adds it to my point total, so I can still climb the rank ladder (thank God for online play!).
Sometimes, there are several missing badges in a row. The first missing badge is at Emerald Ox, but the next 2 or 3 at least after that that are missing. When I get to a higher badge that the game has a resource for, the game continues perfectly.
So my solution is to play bumped up speedies until I get past the missing badges. Then I go back to regular game play, because the game doesn't crash after every puzzle.
I have lost count as to how many missing badges there are. At the moment I am at Emerald Rabbit. So far there have been no missing rabbit badges, but there were numerous at the Ox and Tiger ranks.
Anyway, if anybody has the ear of Big Fish, maybe they can get them to look into this issue. When I contacted them, there "answer" was that I should have checked compatibility issues with the demo before purchasing the game. HA! It takes more than an hour to get to the the Emerald Ox rank (the time limit for the demo) so no one will ever discover this before purchasing.
Well, I am done with my rant. Have fun everyone!
Steve

Does anyone have a link to version 1.2? Or is it non-existant now? I can only find version 1.3 online, even in POGO and Big Fish.

If POGO doesn't have it anymore, it is no longer around.

Steve This is a pretty old post - missing badges dosnt only affect the mac version of the game - this can be the case in both version 1.2 & 1.3 - its nothing to do with the type of pc you use I'm not sure how you go about finding the programme files in a mac or in vista but you can download the full badge folder here - the short version description iv posted with this zip is for windows xp users www.esnips.com/doc/fdc9fa5b-1421-486a-a527-6607f7fba7e7/Mte-Game-Badges---see-descriptionLong Description - download zip to desktop - right clik - clik extract all & redirect destination to desktop - this will place the unzipped badge folder onto yr desktop Right clik yr Mte game icon - clik properties - clik 'find target' - this takes you to all yr Mte game files & folders Drag the unzipped badge folder into the assets folder - clik yes if windows asks you if you want to replace the badges folder in it - it will replace the incomplete badges folder in yr game with the downloaded complete badge folder Close all windows & open yr game - each ranking will appear as you play I hadnt thought about game crash due to incomplete badge rankings - a good possibility that this could be the problem for a lot of players though There should be a total of 110 badges in the badges folder in yr game - if yr not sure if the whole lot are there you can check the folder in yr game by doing the following - Again - these instructions are for XP Users of the game - Right clik Mte game icon - clik properties - clik 'find target' - double clik the 'assets' folder - double clik the 'badges' folder - you should now see the badges in yr game (Please refer to yr own computers requirements to get to the Mte 'assets' folder in Vista & Mac) Enjoy!! (When i find the badges thread i'll put this info in thier too) Update - found it & done
