ok , i'm no doctor
but first you must want to change and well forever change
you cannot blame the weight on eating food that is in your fridge/cupboard so firstly Do NOT buy it , if it is not in the fridge/larder/cupboards you wont eat it
so i am not patronising I HAVE been there, and i post my story on another forum so I hope it helps I changed my life, and I'm almost 39 and have been 98lbs for 14 years
of course my plan was drastic but Its about changing Everthing!
The follow I wrote on submitted on another forum I have just copy/pasted my own words and I really hope it helps
I was a complusive eater, and found I was addicted to chocolate, and giving up chocolate wasn't easy, I dont like it now , except for belguim or swiss chocolate, but that is a very rare treat, the only cure for me was to change my life , drastic I know, but the eating is a symptom I had to cure the cause!
I figured out I was lonely and poor, so I dropped out of College (dont panic, I'm In universtity now) and got a job , I met new friends and had money , then I got myself a little place of my own to live in , and the rest is history , I solved the cause the compusion to eat stopped!
i know I did it a bit drastic , but I was young, and had no responsiblities then It would be harder now to drastically change my life , but we can change our outlook and perspective on things the older we get , unlike when I was 19
you need to change your outlook , focus on the child, and if you buy treats they ARE for your kid not you!
I dont mean to sound harsh but I have been there and at an age when my peers were getting dates and boyfriends I had No phonecall , no dates , it was miserable you want advise , you dont need help just self control and you CAN do it!!

I need to lose weight, too. I'm trying really hard right now, so I'm in the same boat you are!
I actually use MahJong as my reward for doing exercise. If I walk in the morning, then I get to play for 30 minutes. Any time on the stationary bike is time I am also alloted to play MahJong.
And then I agree with Pinky, just don't buy bad food, educate yourself on what food is healthy and try to be more active just a little bit more every day.
Good luck and I'm right there with you!

Thank you Gerda for redirecting us....
How come you are battleing losing weight opposed to gaining it??? I wish I had that prob. But not at the expense of a serious health problem...I hope you are all right.
Summer,
Congrats on your 5 lb. weight loss. You should be very proud of yourself. I am proud and happy for you. It's a huge feat to lose weight when you are struggling to do so....
I have lost a total of 12 lbs within a year. I don't exercise routinely. When, I do though, it's pretty intense... I try to eat healthy, but give in to fast food, deserts and alcohol on many ocassions still.
I see the 12 lbs as being a slow transition into my everchanging lifestyle.

Christine you know what? No matter how long it takes us to lose weight it is still a success. Sometimes we lose too much too fast. My blood pressure was pretty high and my cholesterol too. So my Doctor is monitoring me. I go back to see Doc. after i return from my vacation. She wants to see how i am doing with this new vegetarian diet i have been working on. Wish me luck! And i don't excises enough...I wish i had a personal trainer here to help get me more motivated You are doing good Christine!

Well I need to lose weight too. Unfortunately, its more than 50. I would be happy with 100. Everytime I lose 20 or 30 then I get sick again and gain it back. I have an eating disorder that the professionals call Belimia except in truth its a mix of that and Anorexia. I eat small meals thru the day for about 3 days then starve for 3 days. Makes it hard to lose weight. Changed what I eat and buy less of the fatty foods. Yet because I cant fight my eating disorder alone, I cant seem to lose the weight and manage to keep it off when sick. SO I am willing to help others in the hope I can figure out how to help me. lol

Bluebird it's nice you show support for others when you too are struggling. I know you can beat this disorder...I am rooting for you! I didn't eat anything all dat other than a few small pretzels and a handful of m&m's (not good) But i figure i m making bbq for dinner and that will be enough. I am getting on my treadmill for an hour. What are you eating bluebird?

Girl, I will tell you what has even been said to me... You have to eat for strength and energy...in fact it's been said to eat 6 small portions a day....pace yourself. Me, i need to stay away from the chips...sometimes i crave them! ;D Eat lighter in the evenings and not past 7pm.....I know it 's hard. I keep trying to tell myself i can do this...If only i can get back into my size 6 jeans when i was in high school. I am very self conscience's of myself usually...And some days i say trying to be positive that i just don't give a hoot what i look like....until someone takes a picture of me and then i hate it...LOL Have a good day today....you are going to eat today

A BBQ Sounds very, very good....had one last weekend... I eat healthier today, but yes, I still eat what I like....in moderation. I eat 4-6 small meals per day every 2-3 hours. That way, my metabolism is not overloaded. I had read that your metabolism can only burn up to 500 calories from a meal, the rest goes to your hips...... Fruits and Veggies actually help you lose weight. The metabolism burns more calories than what is in the fruit and vegetables (if eaten in proper proportions) It takes 3,500 calories to gain a pound and a negative 3,500 calories to lose a pound. Cut back 500 calories in diet and burn 500 calories a day and you will lose weight gradually. Don't starve yourself, it breaks your metabolism down. It is more efficient if you keep it properly fueled. Weight lifting at least 3 day's a week to gain some muscle mass or to tone it, will help your metabolism to become more effecient in burning calories. Cardio, such as power walking, aerobics, jogging etc...should be done at least 3 days per week for up 30-60 min. I haven't exercised all week....But, I am doing okay with eating healthy.... I try not to think about the weight loss as much as I do overall health... I don't think I will ever get into the size I was in highschool...but, hey, my cholesterol and blood pressure are fine. I just want to say...Don't be so hard on ourselves, try our best but don't try too hard, and here's to our health!

Okay...yesterday I started back up on my exercise regimen...well it's sort of a regimen. After two weeks of no exercise what so ever, I felt so out of shape. I can't believe how much stamina you lose when it's been weeks of just sitting around. I was starting to feel grumpy too. Today I feel much better.
