American History Lesson Here is a history lesson that is as entertaining as it is interesting. Here's a little part of US history which makes you go hmmm.... Have a history teacher explain this ---- if they can.
Abraham Lincoln was elected to Congress in 1846. John F. Kennedy was elected to Congress in 1946.
Abraham Lincoln was elected President in 1860. John F. Kennedy was elected President in 1960.
Both were particularly concerned with civil rights. Both wives lost their children while living in the White House.
Both Presidents were shot on Friday. Both Presidents were shot in the head.
Lincoln' secretary was named Kennedy. Kennedy's secretary was named Lincoln.
Both were assassinated by Southerners. Both were succeeded by Southerners named Johnson.
Andrew Johnson, who succeeded Lincoln, was born in 1808. Lyndon Johnson, who succeeded Kennedy, was born in 1908.
John Wilkes Booth, who assassinated Lincoln, was born in 1839. Lee Harvey Oswald, who assassinated Kennedy, was born in 1939.
Both assassins were known by their three names. Both names are composed of fifteen letters.
Lincoln was shot at the theatre named "Ford". Kennedy was shot in a car called "Lincoln".
Booth ran from the theatre and was caught in a warehouse. Oswald ran from warehouse and was caught in a theatre.
Booth and Oswald were assassinated before their trials. And here's the kicker.
A week before Lincoln was shot, he was in Monroe, Maryland. A week before Kennedy was shot, he was with Marilyn Monroe.
Creepy, huh?

You know with MTE we are all going to stay young with some of these layouts, lol

If I Had My Life To Live Over by: Erma Bombeck, after she found out she had cancer
I would have gone to bed when I was sick instead of pretending the earth would go into a holding pattern if I weren't there for the day.
I would have burned the pink candle sculpted like a rose before it melted in storage.
I would have talked less and listened more.
I would have invited friends over to dinner even if the carpet was stained or the sofa faded.
I would have eaten the popcorn in the 'good' living room and worried much less about the dirt when someone wanted to light a fire in the fireplace.
I would have taken the time to listen to my grandfather ramble about his youth.
I would never have insisted the car windows be rolled up on a summer day because my hair had just been tease and sprayed.
I would have sat on the lawn with my children and not worried about grass stains.
I would have cried and laughed less while watching television and more while watching life.
I would never have bought anything just because it was practical, wouldn't show soil or was guaranteed to last a lifetime.
Instead of wishing away nine months of pregnancy, I'd have cherished every moment and realized that the wonderment growing inside me was the only chance in life to assist God in a miracle.
When my kids kissed me impetuously, I would never have said, "later, now go get washed up for dinner." There would have been more "I love you's." More "I'm sorry's."
But mostly, given another shot at life, I would seize every minute...look at it and really see it... live it...and never give it back.
Stop sweating the small stuff. Don't worry about who doesn't like you, who has more or who's doing what. Instead, let's cherish the relationships we have with those who DO love us. Let's think about what GOD HAS BLESSED US WITH.
And what we are doing each day to promote ourselves mentally, physically, emotionally as well as spiritually. Life is to short to let it pass you by. We only have one shot at this and then it's gone. I hope you all have a blessed day.
makes you think what is really important in life.

A folded American Flag has 13 folds. Each fold has it's own meaning. Here's what each fold means: 1. Symbol of life. 2. Symbol of our belief in eternal life. 3. Is made in honor and remembrance of the veteran departing our ranks who gave a portion of life for the defense of country to attain a peace throughout the world. 4. Represents our weaker nature, for an American citizens trusting in God, it is to him we turn in times of peace as well as in times of war for His divine guidance. 5. Is a tribute to our country, for the words of Stephen Decatur, "Our country, in dealing with other countries, may she always be right; but it is still our country, right or wrong." 6. Is for where our hearts lie. It is with our heart that we pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America, and to the republic for which it stands, one nation, under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all. 7. Is a tribute to our Armed Forces, for it is through the Armed Forces that we protect our country and our flag against all her ememies, whether they be found within or without the boundaries of our republic. 8. Is a tribute to the one who entered into the valley of the shadow of death, that we might see the light of day, and to honor Mother, for whom it flies on Mother's Day. 9. Is a tribute to Womanhood; for it has been through their faith, love, loyalty and devotion that the character of the men and women who have made this country great have been molded. 10. Is a tribute to Father, for he, too, has given his sons and daughters for the defense of our country since he or she was first born. 11. In the eyes of a Hebrew citizen, represents the lower portion of the seal of King David and King Solomon and glorifies, in their eyes, the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob. 12. In the eyes of a Christian citizen, represents an emblem of eternity and glorifies, in their eyes, God the Father, the Son and the Holy Ghost. 13. When the flag is completely folded, the stars are upper most reminding us of national motto, "In God We Trust." After the flag is completely folded and tucked in, it takes on the appearance of a cocked hat, ever reminding us of the soldiers who served under General George Washington and the sailors and marines who served under Captain John Paul Jones who were followed by their comrades and shipmates in the Armed Forces of the United States, preserving for us the rights, privileges and freedom we enjoy today.
Just a little history about the American Flag. Alot of us don't know the meaning of a folded flag.

Thanks for sharing this. Both my parents died for chancer. If it may come to me, I know: I will not regret any vain moment or thought. I lived my life as written in God's hand. I will not regret any sin, I made. God, already has forgiven me before I did. Alpha et Omega. There is no end to His love and Love is Life. Jesus proofed it at Easter. So will I live. So I will live.

My son didn't understand alot of things until he had kids, then said one day, thanks Mom I know understand what and why you did things. Just save it for that day. He will understand. My husband and I read it together, boy it got us both. It's so true.

Hugs are warm Hugs are nice Hugs are ways To break the ice
If you send me a hug You won't regret I'll hug you back So you can't forget!
A hug is just a way to say, I love you in a special way, To tell that someone special, I care about you in every way.
When you shed a tender tear a hug is sure to be near. When you're trembling in fear a hug will come from someone dear.
Wrap your arms around someone near In your hug is the circle of life. A new beginning to an endless day A ray of hope to light your way.
Take a hug and pass it on don't save them up it can't be done. Share them with family and friends, share them whenever you can.
A hug will make you "aahh" A hug will make you "oohh" A hug will make you smile A hug will make you feel great.
A hug lightens up your day A hug throws away your loads A hug strengthens your ties A hug makes you feel important.
Stop! Take a break! A hug is harmless It only takes a little of our time Why not share a hug? We all need a hug, don't we?

ONLY IN AMERICA... can a pizza get to your house faster than an ambulance...
ONLY IN AMERICA... are there handicap parking places in front of a skating rink...
ONLY IN AMERICA... do people order double cheese burgers, a large fry, and a diet coke...
ONLY IN AMERICA... do banks leave both doors open and then chain the pens to the counters...
ONLY IN AMERICA... do we leave cars worth thousands of dollars in the driveway and leave useless things and junk in boxes in the garage...
ONLY IN AMERICA... do we use answering machines to screen calls and then have call waiting so we won't miss a call from someone we didn't want to talk to in the first place...
ONLY IN AMERICA... do we buy hot dogs in packages of ten and buns in packages of eight...
ONLY IN AMERICA... do we use the word "politics" to describe the process so well: "Poli" in Latin meaning "many" and "tics" meaning "blood-drinking creatures"..
