Bluebird, Your Shadow looks like my Shady.... Speaking of Shady...I was soooo disgusted with her yesterday morning....She killed and decapitated our little neighborhood bunny...left her on the back patio for me...just rubbing all over my legs and saying "look mommy, what I brought for you." Poor little thing I chastised her for that and told her mice only....LOL

That happened to me a few years ago with my one cat...He would go outside and come home when he wanted well funny thing is he actually came home with 3 baby bunnies in his mouth I figured ..well i have 3 boys so he brought one for each of them i guess 2 were still alive and got into the basement and took off and hid....never found them until we smelled something funky and of course they were dead. Pretty sad huh.....Cats like to be rewarded for what they bring you home.

I've been told that it is a sign of affection and respect, so I guess your cat really loves and respects you.....and your boys...LOL

My cats are indoor only so I dont need to worry about critters like that. My mom's cats played with lizards and such that would get in under the security door and leave the pieces (lol) for my mom to vaccuum up literally. Yuck but it was funny to watch lol.

I wish I could've kept my two recent cats indoor cats too. Shady cries to go out. Budha loves to be outside too. Budha is with friends right now until we get back from Malaysia. He cried all night his first night. But, I think he is starting to warm up to my friend now. Still looking for foster parents for Shady and Tia... If I can't find someone else, my oldest daughter will take them. I wish I could take them with me. But, the company said "no" When I go to Japan, I am definitely taking them... I am going to miss my cats...but mostly my baby, Tia.

I will never again get a cat and allow it to go outside. The one we have now can go on the outside deck and that is it.

I agree...I know it's risky. I am thinking of starting to keep Shady inside. She get's depressed and mopes when I don't let her go out. It would be hard to keep her in now, because she is such a good escape artist.

So sorry to hear about your cats Space3. Hope one day you find another special cat. All three of my cats are in foster homes for the next 4 months until I get back to the states. I miss my cats. Especially my Tia. I have heard that she is having a hard time adjusting without me.

We have taken in two kittens this summer. I'm pretty sure my black and white Teddy cat told them, they would be safe here. He's been wathing over them like a mother hen. He stays mostly in the backyard around the house. We now have two cats indoors and four cats outside. We named the new ones Ginger & Lilly. Gingers mostly black and orange with a little white. Lilly is light gray and light orange. They have there own kitten food and water, but love to get in the adult cat food too. I think it is a shame some people don't take care of animals like they should. These two will get fixed like the rest. All our cats have different personalities. No two completely alike.

Oleta,
From my experience of cats, I agree that all cats have distinct and unique personalities.
I feel that I will never find one like my tia.

My cat Scooter bit me last night while I was sleeping. Fortunately I was so deeply asleep that I didn't feel it, because his bites hurt. Scooter bit me again last night. Twice. Badly. And this time it woke me up. He is on Prozac for his aggression, but it obviously isn't working very well. It's too bad, because he can be such a sweet baby too. He will give me kisses when he's in a good mood, and he's so much fun to watch when he plays. I always say that he's 51% sweetheart and 49% stinker and you don't want to push it with him. Now Scootie is snuggling on my lap and sleeping in bed with me. Get a dose of his medicine in him and he's a total sweetheart.

This is an excerpt from an email I just sent my aunt. Please send good thoughts and Prayers Scooter's way. Thanks!
Scooter is really struggling too. He's been to the vet 3 times this week. They've done bloodwork, urine tests, stool tests, and xrays, and they can't figure out what's wrong with him. All we know for sure is that if he doesn't start eating, he is going to go into liver failure and die. He will eat a tiny bit of baby food or a few bites of his dry food every once in awhile. Also, I drain all the water out of a can of tuna into his dish and he drinks that like it's the best thing he's ever tasted. But that's not enough to sustain him. He's lost 2 pounds in a month, and for a cat, that is A LOT. We are treating him basically for things it might possibly be. He is on 4 medications: Prozac (for his aggression), Prednisolone (a steroid) which would help if it is pancreatitis, irritable bowel syndrome, or a lymphoma, Pepcid AC in case he has an ulcer, and Lactulose for his bowel. I am also giving him fluids under his skin once a day for 10 days to keep him hydrated. He also has a cyst or something like it on the back of one of his hind legs. It needs to be needle biopsied. He is lethargic and doesn't like me anymore. He hides and screams every time I pick him up because he thinks I'm going to give him medicine. He needs lots of prayers and good thoughts right now.

I have good news and bad news about Scooter...
The good news... Whatever was making him so sick for so long is gone. All of his blood work is normal and he is acting like a kitten again. :-)
The bad news... He has a Mast Cell Tumor and has to have surgery to have it removed. :-( The surgery will cost around $400.00. I am on disability and only receive $770.00 per month, so I don't have the money for the surgery. My mom offered to loan me the money, but I am already $480.00 in debt to her for my new computer when my old one broke. I am paying her $60.00 per month for that. For those of you who are praying people, would you please pray that God will provide the money for me? Especially through donations. I can't afford to go further into debt for this either. And those of you who aren't praying people... Would you please send good thoughts our way? Thanks!

Hi Scooty
I am really glad to hear that Scooter has gotten over whatever it was that was making him unwell & am very sorry to hear bout his tumour - i'm sure at the end of the day all will turn out alright - where theres a will theres a way & i'm sure you'll both get through it all with flying colours 1 way or another
Are there any school fairs or markets that you could sell clothing & stuff you dont wear or use anymore? - or maybe you could buy some face paint & paint kids faces - butterflies/pirates & that sort of thing - even a garage type sale if yv got some bits & pieces around - make it an all proceeds to go towards Scooters surgery - y'd be surprised how many people will help with items & things to sell
Just a cupl of thoughts
Keep us posted
Hugz to both you & Scooter

Thanks Fi! Unfortunately, I am unbelievably busy these next 2 weeks and don't have time to do a fundraiser other than asking for donations on the internet. Scoot's surgery is the 14th, so I only have 11 days more to come up with the money. So far I have 3 donations--one from my best friend for $100.00 and 2 others that I don't know how much they will be. I may just end up borrowing the rest of the money from my mom and trusting God to help me repay her.
Thanks for the ideas, though. They are good ideas. If I had more time, I would put them to use.
Hugs,
Scootie

I got the estimate for Scooter's surgery today. It is going to cost anywhere from $411.00 to $454.00, depending on how long it takes. I am in desperate need of donations to help me pay for it. Those of you who are praying people, please pray that God will provide the donations for me. Thanks! Scootie Picture of Scooter... i1017.photobucket.com/albums/af298/Scootie1999/DSCF1099.jpg

Happy Birthday Scooter!!! He is 11 years old today.
He is getting moist food and tuna water as his birthday cakes. He is also getting 10 toys that I crocheted for him.
